The Hillsboro River is located near Tampa, Florida. It’s clear waters flow with a gentle current from the Green Swamp to Hillsboro Bay. Part of it is a designated paddling trail and if meanders through pristine forests that are filled with an abundance of wildlife. . The river is truly a treasure and is a wildlife lovers paradise. We launched at John Sargeant Park and paddled downriver 7.5 to 8 miles to Trout Creek Park. There is a fee to launch at and park at JSP.
This section of river offers a luscious forrest canopy that shields you from the sun and many opportunities to see real Florida wildlife in its natural habitat.
The water is clear.
Wild birds are everywhere.
As well as reptiles.
And more birds.
